Barbara Zavros

Melbourne  born  Soprano  Barbara  zavros  gained  her  Bachelor  of  Music  Performance  from  the Victorian College of the Arts and has a Masters of Music (Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London UK 2006)


Barbara performed the role of Rosina Barber of Seville, Gretel/Witch/Mother, Hansel and Gretel, Clown/Juggler Sid the Serpent, Catherine/Cassandra The Sound Garden (Opera Australia’s Oz Opera Vic Schools Company 2009-2013), Anne Trulove(cover) The Rake’s Progress, Contessa (cover) Le Nozze di Figaro (Victorian Opera 2012), Micaela Carmen (In Good Company 2010), Barbarina Le Nozze di Figaro (Melbourne Opera 2008) Tamiri Il Re Pastore (Lyric Opera of Melbourne 2008), Lover Il Tabarro (Guildhall School of Music and Drama 2005)


Awards/Scholarships: Finalist 2nd place- MTO German Australian Opera Grant (2012), Winner- Herald Sun Aria (2011), Finalist- German Opera Scholarship, New York Scholarship (Opera Foundation Australia 2011), Winner- Welsh Male Choir of Melbourne ‘Singer of the Year’ (2010), Winner- Guildhall School of Music and Drama Award and Australian Opera Award (The Australian Singing Competition Finals 2004), Scholarships - Margaret Sutherland Bursary Award, Athenaeum Award, Murray Ormond Vagg Scholarship, Ian Potter Cultural Trust Grant.
