Boyd Owen

Australian tenor, Boyd Owen lives in Shanghai.  He has been a semi-finalist in the Belvedere International Singing Competition and was the winner of the 2013 Orvieto Opera Competition.


Since then he has established a busy performing career in Italy singing such roles as Belmonte in Die Entfuhrung Aus dem Serail, Ernesto in Don Pasquale and Quint in The Turn of the Screw all for Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Ramiro in La Cenerentola for Teatro dell’Opera Giocosa in Savona and also in Rovigo, Nemorino in L’Elisir D’Amore in Piacenza and for Spazio Musica Opera and the Spazio Music Festival and Don Narciso in Il Turco in Italia in Piacenza and Ravenna.


During 2016 Boyd has made his debut at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, as Lindoro in The Italian Girl In Algiers, for Opera di Firenze.

His concert work includes Britten’s Ballad of Heroes at Teatro Comunale di Bologna, performances of Handel’s Messiah in Shanghai and regular concerts in Australia.


He performed with the Australian group The Ten Tenors for many years touring the USA, Australia, Germany and Scandinavia and recording with the RTVE orchestra in Madrid.


For Melbourne Opera, he was engaged as tenor soloist, for the company’s tour of China in 2015.
