Born in China, Emily Xiao Wang completed a Bachelor Of Music degree at the Shanghai Normal University and has a post-graduate degree in Opera Performance from the Victorian College Of The Arts.
Previously, for Melbourne Opera, Emily has appeared as The Countess in The Marriago Of Figaro and as Fiordiligi in the company’s 2012 Melbourne season and 2013 touring season of Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte.
Her other operatic roles include Nedda in I Pagliacci for Melbourne City Opera and for the Victorian College Of Arts she has sung Gilda in Rigoletto, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Mimi in La Boheme and Juliet in Romeo & Juliet.
2010 included her debut for The Production Company as Tuptim in The King & I at the Victorian Arts Centre.
Emily has appeared as soprano soloist with the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra in Beethoven's Symphony No.9, been regularly engaged as soloist by the Australian Pops Orchestra for its Absolutely British concerts in the Melbourne Town Hall, has sung at the Castlemaine State Festival, given a recital tour of China and is featured on an opera CD produced by International Opera Productions in Prague. She has appeared as soloist for Melbourne Opera in its Mozart By Moonlight concerts in Melbourne’s Royal Botanical Gardens.
