Francesco Fabris

Began his professional singing career in 1981 with the Victoria State Opera. He has performed principal operatic roles from children’s opera through to grand opera, including; Figaro in The Barber of Seville, Marcello in La Boheme, Schaunard in La Boheme, Sid in the Girl of the Golden West, Dumas in Andrea Chenier, Ein Perkenmaker in Ariadne auf Naxos. Zaretsky in Eugene Onegin, I1 Commissaro in Madama Butterfly, Herman in The tales of Hoffmann, Sacristan in Tosca, Ramiro in The Spanish hour, David in A hand of bridge, Ford in Falstaff, Escamillo, Morales and Dancario in Carmen as well as wide range of music theatre concerts, vocal recitals and numerous understudy roles in opera.

Francesco has performed with numerous opera companies which include Opera Australia, Oz Opera, Victoria State Opera, Opera Queensland, Melbourne City Opera. As well as with The Australia Pops Orchestra, Victorian Arts Centre Trust, A.B.C. Television and Radio, Canberra Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Music Festival, Melbourne Spoleto Festival, the Three choirs, Intervarsity choir festival, Music Theatre Australia, Mozart by Moonlight, Eventure Productions, Ashton-Smith singers, Encore Entertainment, Monash University, Melbourne University and Independent Classics.

Corporate companies Francesco has performed for include Crown Casino, BHP, Amcor Ltd., Weight Watchers, and Tattersalls.

He also performed recently for the ’AFL’ Brownlow Medal Count 2002.

Papageno in The Magic Flute marks his debut with Melbourne Opera Company.

In 2004, Francesco will perform Marcello in La Boheme for Oz Opera in their Australian tour.

Francesco has produced and recorded 2 religious C.D.’s Tools for Salvation and Wings to Heaven.
