Nick Merrylees

Nick is a Melbourne based lighting designer. Nick has lit the Melbourne Opera productions of The Barber of Seville, Die Fledermaus, Don Giovanni, The Tell Tale Heart, Cosi fan Tutte, The Magic Flute and Pearl Fishers. Some of Nick’s recent designs have been Squizzy (Australian Shakespeare Company), Dido & Aeneas (ANU School of Music), At The Centre of Light (Bold Jack, Twelth Night Brisbane), Marcel & Albertine and The Red & The Black (Stork Theatre), Porcelain (Street Theatre Canberra), Grimm and The Blue Crown Owl (ANU School of Music) and Checklist for an Armed Robber and Lonely Hearts (Deckchair, Fremantle).
Past career highlights include the lighting designs for The Woman Before and 7 Days 10 Years (Theatre@risk), The Future Australian Race and The Terms & Grammar of Creation (Commonplace Productions, Victorian State Library), The Ishmael Club (Playbox), Inheritance (Full Dress Productions), Turandot (The Puccini Festival), Tosca (Melbourne City Opera), Uncle Bob (Red Stitch), Carrying Shoes - Into The Unknown (LaMama), Caresses (Vicious Fish), The Idiot (VCA Drama Company98) and Corpus Christi (Polemic Productions).
