Suzanne Shakespeare

Suzanne has a Master of Music Performance at the Victorian College of the Arts in Piano, and a Bachelor of Music with Honours (minor study in Voice and Viola) at the University of Melbourne . She also has a Licentiate of Trinity College London (L.T.C.L.) with distinction in both Voice and Piano.

Operatic roles include Lucia: Lucia di Lammermoor (Donizetti), Susanna: Marriage of Figaro (Mozart), Queen of the Night: Die Zauberflute (Mozart), Adina: Elixer of Love (Donizetti), Musetta: La boheme (Puccini), Rosina: Barber of Seville (Rossini), Frasquita: Carmen (Bizet), Arianna: Il Giustino (Vivaldi), and Medora: Il Corsaro (Verdi), Elmire: Erwin und Elmire (Amalia), Lady Angela: Patience, Yum Yum: The Mikado and Fiametta: Gondoliers (Gilbert and Sullivan).

Awards include Winner of The Musical Society of Victoria’s Armstead Singing award (2007), Finalist in the McDonald’s Operatic Aria (2007), Finalist in German Operatic Award (2007), Finalist in the Covent Garden Scholarship (2007), Finalist in the John Tallis Award (2007), Winner of the McDonald’s Performing Arts Challenge Nina Barden Memorial Scholarship (2006), Winner of the Melbourne Welsh Choir’s Singer Of The Year award (2006), Finalist in the Herald Sun Aria (2006).

In September of 2008, Suzanne will take up a scholarship for the Artist Diploma in Opera in the Graduate school at the Royal College of Music, London , Britten Opera Department
