Dimity Shepherd

Dimity’s roles include Cherubino in Marriage Of Figaro for Opera Australia, Maddalena in Rigoletto, Stephano in Romeo & Juliet and Tisbe in Cenerentola, all for Opera Queensland and Rosina in Barber Of Seville and Carmen for Opera Australia’s Oz Opera.


Extensive appearances for Victorian Opera include a Greenroom Award winning Cherubino, Nireno in Julius Caesar, Arsamene in Xerxes, Orphee in Orphee & Eurydice, Sondheim’s Sunday In The Park With George, Flora in Traviata, The Beggar Woman in Sweeney Todd and Lucy in Threepenny Opera for which she received a  Helpmann Award nomination.


She created the title rôle in the world premieres of Jonathan Mill’s The Ghostwife for the Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Barbican BITE O2 festivals and the lead roles in Crossing Live and Elizabeth in The Children’s Bach, for Chamber Made Opera.


Concerts include Opera Under The Stars in Broome, the vocal part in Sculthorpe’s String Quartet No.13 Island Dreaming in the Sydney Festival, Messiah for Melbourne Symphony and Goliyov’s Ayre at the Fremantle Arts Festival.


For Melbourne Opera, Dimity has previously appeared as Carmen.
