Dominique Oyston

Dominique was born into a well-known Melbourne theatrical family, first treading the boards at the age of 4. She initially trained with Dame Joan Hammond at the Victorian College of the Arts and while still a student played the title role in Playbox Theatre’s production of ‘Cho Cho San’ touring Australia and China. She then toured nationally and through Asia with major musicals ‘South Pacific’ and ‘The Secret Garden’ for the John Frost Organisation understudying the lead roles. Dominique joined the award winning corporate act Pot Pourri in 1998 spending the next 10 years travelling to 20 different countries and performing at 100’s of events nationwide.


She has co-created numerous children’s productions culminating in writing the children’s opera ‘The Warbles go to the Opera!’ for the Song Room and touring this over 6 years to 1000’s of school children throughout Australia. As a writer Dominique has written a musical adaptation of ‘Trojan Women’ for the Grant St Theatre, ‘Figaro Figaro Figaro’ for the Victorian Arts Centre. Dominique sang on the Australian cast recording of ‘The Secret Garden’ and features on 5 CD’s with Pot Pourri and is currently writing original material for her first solo CD. Dominique is relishing her return to the Melbourne operatic stage after all that gallivanting. She is secretly married to Njegus (David Gould) in real life.
