Jonathan Truscott

Born: Queensland.


Studies: vocal studies with James Christiansen; graduated from the University of Queensland, 1996.


Awards: oq 1997 Young Artist Program; The Lord Mayor’s Performing Arts Fellowship leading to an intensive study period in New York; in 1998, chosen from national auditions for the first Advanced Performance Program at the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne.


Opera: professional debut with Opera Queensland in a Rossini Gala in 1992; member of the Opera Queensland Chorus until 1997; Abimelech in Samson et Dalila; Colline in La Boheme and Mephistopheles in Faust for Beyond Opera, Wagner in Faust, The Bonze in Madama Butterfly, Dr Grenvil in La traviata and Sarastro in The Magic Flute for Opera Queensland; for State Opera of South Australia, Angelotti in Tosca, the Major-domo in Andrea Chenier and Masetto in Don Giovanni; and with West Australian Opera as Dr Bartolo in Le Nozze di Figaro.


Concert: Mozart Requiem with Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra and Ballarat Festival; Messiah, Bach St John Passion and most recently Verdi Requiem for Queensland Symphony Orchestra. Jonathan is a member of the current OzOpera touring production of La Boheme to tour the Northern Territory and West Australia.
