After completing a Diploma of Education (Music Major), Kerrie was accepted to study for a Graduate Diploma in Opera at the Victorian College of the Arts Opera Studio, receiving a tuition scholarship in her second year. In 2003 she completed a Bachelor of Music in Performance at Melbourne University, where she was awarded the Mabel Kent Vocal Scholarship. She has subsequently returned to the VCA as a Master of Music Performance student on full scholarship. Since 1998, Kerrie has sung in both the chorus and as a cover with Opera Australia. As a soloist, Kerrie has performed with numerous opera companies and choral societies including Chamber Made Opera, Lyric Opera, Melbourne Opera, EMO, Melbourne City Opera, Savoy Opera, Independent Classics, Orchestra Victoria, and The Melbourne Chorale. So far this year Kerrie’s solo engagements include touring with the OZ Opera Schools Company production of The Barber of Seville, playing Mrs. Nolan in G.C.Menotti’s The Medium (Lyric Opera), and performing as alto soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria and Mozart’s Requiem (Monash University Choral Society), Faure’s Requiem (Gisborne Singers), and Schubert’s Mass in E flat (Camerata Orchestra, Camberwell Chorale).
