Award winning Australian Mezzo Soprano Sally-Anne Russell has performed in concerts and operatic performances in over fifteen countries. With over 40 CD’s /DVD's to her credit she can be heard on ABC Classics, CHANDOS, NAXOS and DECCA labels. Recording highlights include the ARIA people’s choice award for Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, her solo operatic disc “Enchanting" and Opera Australia’s 50th Birthday DVD also celebrating the late Dame Joan Sutherlands 80th Birthday at the Sydney Opera House. Sally-Anne has also been nominated as Young Australian of the Year and Young Achiever of the Year (Arts).
As a lyric coloratura mezzo she has over 60 operatic roles in her repertoire ranging from Handel, Purcell to Rossini heroines. She is a regular guest with all the Australian opera companies, Symphony orchestras, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Musica Viva, Australian String Quartet and for all the major Festivals and Choral Organisations. International highlights include Bruckner’s Te Deum at the Musikverein in Vienna, Oper der Stadt Köln, Washington Opera (DC), a 10 year association with the Carmel Bach Festival in California, Spoleto Festival Italy and festivals in Canada, Japan and most recently in Austria.
Recent performances include a national tour of the Voyage to the Moon (Musica Viva and Victorian Opera), Mozart’s Litaniae (Sydney Symphony Orchestra), St John Passion (West Australian Symphony Orchestra), Nixon in China (New Zealand Festival), Handel’s Messiah (Melbourne and New Zealand Symphony Orchestras), Mozart arias and Requiem (Tasmania Symphony Orchestra).
Future engagements will include Voices in The Forest with Sumi Jo (Canberra), Opera in the Arboretum (Pearl Beach), Bach’s St Matthew Passion with Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, Mercedes in Carmen with Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.
