Yang Liu

Yang studied at Victorian College of the Arts, with Brian Hansford, Steven Grant and Anna Connolly, receiving a Bachelor Degree in Music performance (Honours).


He was a Herald Sun Aria Semifinalist in 2009 and in 2006 won third prize in Armstead Singing Award final for The Victorian Music Society; in 2004, he was a finalist of the Robert Salzer Vocal Championship, and received a Henkell Vineyards Award in 14th National Leiderfest Final.

Previously he starred for Melbourne Opera as Marquis in La Traviata, Prince Yamadori in Madama Butterfly, Marcello in La Boheme, Count Almaviva in Marriage of Figaro and understudied Riccardo in I Puritani.Yang understudied two lead roles in Victorian Opera’s Don Giovanni, chorus member of Opera Australia’s production of Tosca.
