Melbourne Opera Orchestra
The Melbourne Opera Orchestra is at the heart of everything Melbourne Opera does. Formed alongside the company in 2002, it has grown into one of Australia’s most experienced independent opera orchestras — performing across Melbourne’s major stages including Hamer Hall, the Athenaeum Theatre, Her Majesty’s Theatre and Crown Casino, as well as regional Performing Arts Centres and wineries throughout Victoria.
From the grandeur of Wagner’s Ring Cycle to the fire of Verdi and the elegance of Mozart, the Orchestra brings Melbourne Opera’s productions to life with a full complement of strings, winds, brass and percussion in the pit. Its musicians are drawn from the finest professional players in the country, united by a shared commitment to opera performed without compromise.
The Orchestra is available for corporate and private engagements. For enquiries please contact Orchestra Management on +61 3 9614 4188.
