The company receives no government support and relies solely on box office sales and the generosity of its beneficiaries. The company punches way above its weight with annual seasons in the Melbourne Opera Precinct (which includes the iconic Athenaeum and Regent Theatres), Monash University, and Victorian regional centres.
Melbourne Opera also tours internationally, including highly acclaimed tours of China. This provides a vital performing platform for artists, whether in the Melbourne Opera Chorus, orchestra, or as a soloist.
